How to Care for an Automatic Watch
Servicing intervals, winding habits, water resistance, and storing your watch the way it deserves.
An automatic watch is a small engine, and like any engine it benefits from regular use. Wear it. The motion of your wrist is what it was built for.
If you are not wearing it for more than a few days, give the crown a gentle wind every week or two to keep the lubricants moving. Store it dial-up on a soft surface, away from magnets, speakers, and anything else that might pull at the movement.
Service intervals vary by movement, but a full service every four to six years will keep your watch running for generations. Treat the gaskets and seals with the same respect: pressure-test the water resistance whenever you have the watch opened for service.
